i’m over it
Here’s a mix I made of “girl, he’s-no-good-for-you” songs, “I’m-over-you” songs, “I fucking rule” songs, and woman empowerment anthems. Catchy pop songs, super-infectious sing-alongs.
For every time they cat-called, every time they hit us, every time they cheated, every time we thought we needed them.

rhode island therapy
The other day I went up to providence to visit sean. We went to the therapy building, then climbed a strange and frightening structure by the water.

On the way home I smiled a lot listening to post-hardcore music. I was thinking about how even though I feel really trapped sometimes, at least I’m:
- not incarcerated
- not institutionalized
- and not living with my parents.
Yes.
Happy
Today I smiled to myself for an extended period of time, for the first time in a long time. It was really amazing, and I felt all this seratonin flood my body. It rushed to my lips, and made me smile. Fucking incredible. I’m not sure why it happened. Maybe it had something to do with sleeping for twelve hours, or maybe it was the bright blue sky today, or maybe it was all the snow or the little kids playing in it next door… I’m pretty sure that Kate Nash song playing on the radio on my way to meet an old friend must have played a significant part…
Fantastic.
girl music
I think I may get back into blogging.
I feel like I should say something about like, what’s been up with me for the past whatever months, because I haven’t posted in a super long time. So let’s talk about music.
For the past maybe year I have been seeking out only woman-fronted music. If you look in my cd book from circa 2005, you’ll find tons and tons of man-made music with very very little female representation. This is stupid, I realized. I’m a fucking girl, I relate to girls more than boys, I should be listening to music written by girls, with girl voices. I think it’s important that these artists don’t get lost under the radar, that they are celebrated as much as their male counterparts.
Here’s some stuff I’ve been listening to lately:
Camera Obscura — anything — for glomming, creating
Bush Tetras — Boom in the Night — for hanging out, creating
Delia Derbyshire — Dreams — for sleeping
Chicks on Speed — ९९ Cents — for dancing
M.I.A. – Arular — for fucking
Paramore — acoustic songs — for singing along
Anti-Product — The Deafening Silence of Grinding Gears — for fucking
Petula Clark — Downtown anthology — for glomming
Mika Miko – CYSLABF — for dancing
Coathangers — Coathangers — for dancing
Bjork — anything — for sleeping, fucking, glomming
Bees / Algae
This morning I hung out with two bees on some algae, and sang them this song.
The obstruction of the circle was not intentional — I was barely awake. Hopefully I’ll go back and shoot again.
Later on I came back to revisit them, and found about twenty other bees had discovered and taken over our little spot. Oh well, that’s life I guess.
Things happen
My computer got stolen.
My iPod got lost (may also be stolen).
I will not be posting very often anymore.
I will not be listening to music very often anymore. But I do happen to have three cds currently on this side of the country:
Gather – Beyond the Ruins
Stereokid – some cd he made and gave to me
The soundtrack for Little Miss Sunshine
that’s it.
it sucks.
Movin’ 93.9 is getting real boring.
